You read it right, with MTV Emerge, you're dream to become a singing superstar is here. MTV Emerge is the newest talent-search in the Philippines, powered by MTV, Jeepney Music, and Department of Tourism collaboration. The purpose of MTV Emerge is to show the undiscovered talents of the Filipinos to the international music scene.
Apl.de.Ap. (one of the Black Eyed Peas) is one of the people who work on this huge project. Apl.de.Ap. is one of the famous international Filipino singers out there and he really want to share his fame on us, fellow Filipinos. And with MTV Emerge, he's advocacy to spread the heart of Filipino greatness is now in progress. (Thanks Apl.de.Ap!)Participants from any music genre are encouraged to register and upload their profiles, photos and original music on the MTV Emerge site during the contest submission period. All entries will go through a public voting process. After which, a total of seven grand winners will be selected from the top entries on November 20 by a panel of judges including Apl.de.Ap, founder of Jeepney Music and Black Eyed Peas member.
The seven grand winners of MTV Emerge will win a one-year recording contract with Jeepney Music and mentorship under Apl.de.Ap. The contract includes artist management and promotion, digital distribution of 3 – 6 songs and a strategic marketing plan for the signed artists to break into both the Philippines and international markets.
Indeed, MTV Emerge is a huge project with very huge prize. And I am not surprised if lots of bands and other singers joined. Right now, I saw the entries (the hundreds and hundreds of entries) and I felt proud to be a Filipino. The entries were amazing. But the one who caught my attention was the song Here by Faircatch. Why? I can see one of my favorite bands, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus on them. They are great band. How about you? Did you already voted on the MTV Emerge?
